2003 LGCF Convention NewsThe members of District III eagerly anticipate being host to the 2003 state convention, "The World is Our Garden", in Lafayette, on April 10, 11, and 12, 2003. The Holiday Inn Holidome, 2032 Evangline Thruway, has been chosen for our accommodation and festivities. Wednesday, April 9th, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the "fruits of our labor" with a pre convention tour. Ted Viator, prominent Lafayette, Landscape Architect, and Dan Gill, author and garden radio host, will team together to provide you with an unforgettable day. Lunch will be included. Thursday, April 10th, as the executive meetings begin, those not involved, will not be bored. We have several itineraries from which to choose as you travel through "Our World." You may choose from "Antique's Trail", "Nurseries Galore" or "Shop Till You Drop". A map will be provided for your navigation through your selected travels. Expect a few surprises along the way. But don't let your travels make you too tired, because you can't come to Cajun Country and not party. So party we will, at the Lafayette Petroleum Club, with Cajun humorist Murray Conque, and dine to the music of Cool Breeze Convention starts off Friday morning with breakfast and "Tilling the Soil" as the Gardening Consultants presents Norman Winter, author of "Paradise Found: Growing Tropicals in Your Own Backyard", tells us how to "Create a Backyard Paradise". Tom Woodham, Senior Editor of "Veranda" magazine, will "Plant Seeds" of great ideas as he speaks on "Decorative Elements in the Garden.". June Wood, National President-Elect, will "Nurture the Garden" of our minds as she speaks at the Club Presidents/Life Members Luncheon and she will teach us better ways to do table designs at the Judges Council Luncheon. And then You will then "Gather the Fruits of YOUR Labor" Friday night at the Awards Banquet. Wrapping it all up in a "Wonderful
Bouquet" is Installation Night Banquet, full of pomp, majesty.
To honor our newly installed officers a reception will be held afterwards. To join us in the fun, just two-step on down to Lafayette for a bon temps not to be forgotten "The World is Our Garden"
