The
convention will be held at the Holiday Inn Hotel, 2000
South Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, La.
There will be a pre-convention tour, open to everyone,
from 2:00 to 6:00pm. on Monday April 17th.
Each morning there will be a complimentary or minimal
fee Breakfast Buffet.
Registration will begin at 11:00am. on Tuesday with
committee meetings throughout the day. There will be
a get acquainted mixer at the hotel that evening with
a skit by the Baton Rouge garden club and live music.
There will also be a cash bar.
The convention opens Wednesday morning with a flag ceremony
and business meeting. At noon there will be a Judges
Council Luncheon. Later that afternoon there will be
two workshops one the wild flowers of Louisiana and
the other on composting and soil. The Landscape Design
and Gardening Consultants Banquet will be held that
evening with a program on Butterflies.
On Thursday morning we will have the second business
meeting followed by the Club Presidents/Life Members
Luncheon. Dr. Sammy Hyde will be our guest speaker.
There will be a tea and a tour of Ponchatoula in the
afternoon. The tea will be in honor of our National
Garden Club President Kitty Larkin. A Classical Guitarist
will provide music at the tea. We will end the evening
with the Awards Banquet. There will be live music by
a vintage jazz group.
RESERVATIONS:
Individual attendees must make Reservations for the
convention directly with the HOLIDAY INN HOTEL 985-345-0556.
Please identify yourself as a member of the LGCF, INC.,
BLOCK NUMBER LGF, in order to get the group rate. Reservations
must be made before the cut off date of April 3, 2006.
No group rate reservations will be accepted after this
date and accommodations will be made on a space and
rate available basis. Convention rates are $69.00 Single/double
room. Check in time is 3:00 PM. Check out time is 12
Noon.
