4TH ANNUAL BUTTERFLY GARDEN

An Important Message for Garden Club Members

Mary Hazen, the Louisiana Butterfly Chairman, National Garden Club Butterfly Chairman, and the founder of the Butterfly Hospitality Contest, is requesting club members to start initiating interest in the 5th Annual Butterfly Garden Contest, FLUTTERING ACROSS THE CURRICULUM. This is a youth project, providing an interactive hands on learning experience in an outdoor classroom. The winning school will be invited to help plant the Governor's mansion butterfly garden.
GARDENS ARE JUDGED ON THE LESSON PLANS, CURRICULUM, and THE GARDEN.
SPECIAL INTEREST CATEGORIES for judging are ART and POETRY The winning pieces will be displayed in the rotunda at the capitol during the legislative session.

ENTRIES SHOULD INCLUDE:
** 4-8 photographs of the garden (including the children working on this garden)
** A short description of the garden. (how it was started, plants used, and of course the butterflies which visit the garden.
FROM THE TEACHERS: **most important** the lessons which were taught from the garden AND ALSO what the children will take with them into their lives about leaving our world a better place.
**Home-schooled children, boy scouts, girls scouts, and other groups are also encouraged to enter their projects.
