At the last meeting before the summer break, members of the Belle Chasse Garden Club installed officers for the 2008-09 year. The officers are President Kristi Rivero, First Vice President Alice Ivy, Second Vice President Claire Phillips, Secretary Barbara Nezat and Treasurer Pat Buras.
Recipients for gardens of the month are for Community -- Cindy and Steven
Becnel; Commercial -- Whitney Bank; and Member -- Randy and Pat Buras.
The Garden Club awarded a $400 scholarship to Priscilla Terrase for demonstrating outstanding academic qualities by earning a 3.7 GPA and volunteering at nursing homes, a cancer relay, and Toys for Tots. Priscilla plans to attend Loyola University in the fall. She is the daughter of Eric and Rebecca Covell. |
