The Plaquemine Garden Club was established in 1955 and federated into
Louisiana Garden Club Federation, Inc. in 1956. Membership exceeds 100.
Christmas Tea and Flower Show The
Plaquemine Garden Club celebrated its traditional Christmas Tea and
Flower Show on Dec 7, 2012, at the River Road country home of Mrs.

Club members provide holiday designs for the mantel at the Iberville Museum.

Etiquette Class - Nov 2012
The
Plaquemine Garden Club's traditional Etiquette Class was held Saturday,
November 3, at historic c. 1848 Old City Hall--Iberville Museum.
The program is held every other year and is funded by a Dow Chemical
grant. Librarian Kitty Wood presented the program, highlighting
fundamental rules of good manners and social graces.
Approximately thirteen local schoolgirls attended. Verlee Guilbeau demonstrated design of autumn blossoms as a Thanksgiving centerpiece. Refreshments were prepared and served by Jeannine Dunn. Certificates of Completion were awarded by PGC President Marian Medine. Serving on the Etiquette committee were members Nancy Dehahaye, Verlee Guilbeau, Jeannine Dunn, and Brenda Blanchard, Chairman. District VI Fall Meeting was held October 5, 2012 at Houmas House
Plantation and Gardens in Darrow, Louisiana. " Jewels of Louisiana" was
hosted by the Gonzales Garden Club. Guest speaker was Mr. Kevin
Kelly-Proprietor of Houmas House (photo) who spoke on "History of Houmas House

SEPTEMBER 2012 MEETING
Betty M. La Bauve - Plaquemine Garden Club Honorary Member
The
Plaquemine Garden Club welcomed it's newest inductee into honorary
ranks. Mrs. Betty M. La Bauve, at its September 11th, meeting held at
Bayou Plaquemine Waterfront Park Pavilion. Mrs. La Bauve,
recipient of prestigious "Circle of Roses" , 2010, and "Outstanding
Member" 2003, served as club president 1988-1990. Additionally, she's
been club horticulturist for nearly two decades, winning numerous state
Horticulture Paper awards, a renowned floral designer and watercolor
artist. At every Christmas Tea Flower Show she steals center
stage with her masterful sculptured dining table designs. The
club members recognized her selfless dedication and service with
standing ovation. The September program was presented by
Master Gardener and County Agent Miles Brasher, relative to "Louisiana
Super Plants and Safe Pesticides." submitted by Gail Lejeune

MAY HAT LUNCHEON The
Plaquemine Garden Club hosted its annual May Hat Luncheon on Tuesday,
May 8, 2012 at the Bayou Plaquemine Water Park Pavilion located in
historic Turnerville at the old Nadler Foundry site. In
attendance were special guests, LGCF President Mary Jacobs and District
VI Director Diane Dufour who installed the new officers for 2012-2014.

The
Plaquemine Garden Club was the recipient of many competitive 2011-20012
awards. Among them were: First place and $25 each
for-Historic Preservation (Restoration of Dr's Office at Plaquemine
Lock), Valerie Barnum Civic Development and Jo N. Evans Roadside
improvement (beautification and environmental projects at boat landings
where 50 trees acquired through an Apache Tree Grant, were planted.
