District III Fall Meeting


A good turnout of Lafayette Garden Club members are pictured attending Louisiana Garden Club Federation’s District III Fall Meeting at Marielle’s in Breaux Bridge on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008. The ladies enjoyed the meeting, lunch, welcome by Breaux Bridge Mayor Jack Dale Delhomme, and blessing by Fr. Paul LaFleur of St. Bernard’s Church. Dan Gill, an LSU Ag Department associate professor and author of numerous gardening books gave a talk on Cool Season Color for landscaping.

We had a total of 1260 points, the highest in District III
#5B Horticulture Honor Roll Gold Seal This is the highest honor in this non-competitive award. We had a total of 606 points, the highest in District III

We lost to Terrebonne Garden Club by 1 point, because we only had one new project and they had 2. Start thinking of new garden club projects!!!
#9 Standard Flower Show Schedule Award for scoring 90 or above points We scored 96/100points #25 Maude Viskell Design Award Winner, Cecile Revels!!!
We have captured the Maude Viskell Award in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007!!!
