Garden Club holds flower show

The St. Martinville Garden Club presented a standard flower show on Saturday,
April 30, 2011 at the St. Martin Parish Library.
Pictured are the first place winners in the design division that carried out this year’s theme, “Broadway Musicals.”
Lori Jackson’s entry interpreting “The King and I” won the Designer’s Choice Award in addition to a blue ribbon.
Betty Bulliard won two blue ribbons in the classes “Oklahoma” and “Chorus Line.”
Liz Gremillion won her blue ribbon in the novice class for her interpretation of “Lion King.”
In the Horticulture Division, more than 40 blue ribbons were awarded by the judges.
Lori Jackson won 10 blue ribbons to win the Sweepstakes Award. Her
entry of a blooming magnolia branch won the Horticulture Excellence
Award as the finest specimen in the show.
Lynne Bonin followed with six blue ribbons and Dale Mouton and Jessie Bienvenu with five each.
Liz Gremillion, Lori Jackson, Claire Torry and Marjorie Melancon won
Awards of Merit in the perennial, bulb, tree and shrub and cut foliage
sections.
