The Lafayette
Garden Club held its annual flower show, in connection with Festival
des
Fleurs, on March 31 and April 1, 2007, at Blackham Coliseum in
Lafayette,
Louisiana.
First place winners in artistic floral design, themed “Alice in Wonderland,”
and horticulture entries are:
»» Lois Manuel (Collector's Showcase Award and Award of Excellence
for orchids)
» Glenda Balliviero (Merit Award for perennials, vines and decorative
foliage)
»» Loraine Newberry (Arboreal Award, Sweepstakes Award Design
Award)
» Cecille Revels (Tri-Color Design and Sweepstakes Awards)
»» Debbie Hawthorne (Design Award)
» Margaret Hargroder (Design Award)
»» Roxy Chanslor (Design Award)
» Mary Jane Peters (Designer’s Choice Award)
Educational awards of appreciation went to Stacy Lee’s “Advice from a
Caterpillar” on butterfly gardening and Margaret Hargroder’s “Mock Turtle
History,” on students planting trees. Many Lafayette Garden Club members entered
in the
floral design and horticulture events, taking many award ribbons as well.
