Iowa Wins Cleanest City Honor

The town of Iowa won the Cleanest City contest for 2007 in Category B.
The statewide competition is conducted by the Louisiana Garden Club Federation Inc. Category B includes towns with populations of 2,501 to 5,000. According to the 2000 census, Iowa had a population of 2,663 at the time of judging. It’s the second time Iowa has earned the honor, said Margo Racca, immediate past president of the Iowa Garden Club, the town’s sponsor in the event.
She credited the efforts of the garden club, town workers, schools and AARP members and thanked businesses for making certain their properties were mowed and litterfree. “It takes everyone working together to make it happen,” Racca said.
The communities are judged by members of Louisiana Garden Club Federation-affiliated garden clubs from across the state.
