Yearly, the first week of June is proclaimed National Garden Week.
Try and plan something for each day of the week.

DON'T FORGET
document your events with pictures and newspaper articles that can be included in your Book of Evidence for your club and submit to State for an award.








Share your ideas with us. Send them to Nat'l Garden Wk Ideas and we will add them here.
  • Issue a Proclamation endorsed by the mayor [give them a months notice] Meet with the Mayor in May and have Garden Club President accept the Proclamation.
  • Have local businesses place a National Garden Week sign or poster prominently in their store windows
  • Contact your local newspapers, radio, TV stations or public access channels and let them know what activities your club is doing.
  • Sale of perennials and annuals from members' gardens, baskets and crafts made by members with terrific prices! No Admission Fee; Sale is open to the general public.
  • Invite the public to enjoy a tour of a few gardens, enabling you to raise funds for community projects or a scholarship. Add an afternoon tea for a little extra $'s.
  • Set up a table with club information, floral displays, and gardening books at your local library.
  • Use green and white balloons in your town; they are the country wide symbol of National Garden Week.
  • Spend 1 hour weeding a member's yard that is not physically able to do so. (illness, surgery, etc)
  • Deliver flowers and plants to city hall, municipal offices, fire houses, libraries, rehabs, and nursing homes.
