LGCF Circle of Roses

Circle of Roses
THE BEGINNING

by Bera Smith

In 1995, freshly installed as State President, I wanted to do something special for our older members that had done so much for LGCF; especially Irma Wiggins, born 01/03/1899 and Miss Irene Petitjean born 11/02/1904.

I talked to Sue Deville about the idea and we came up with "Circle of Roses". We wanted our Roses to tell us about what they had done, not only in the garden club but what they had done for their community, church, girl/boy scouts, etc. We ask for "Now and Before" pictures, giving their age is gladly accepted but not required.

The simple definition:
They may not be on their hands and knees weeding the healing garden, but they are there with refreshments. They may not be modeling at our style shows any longer, but they are still selling the most raffle tickets.

These are our TREASURES - these are our ROSES.
