Awards 2007 - 2009
General Rules
- Award Year: January 1 to December 31. This applies to all applications,
except where otherwise indicated in an award description.
- Deadline: All awards shall be postmarked no later than December 1st. All
LGCF Awards shall conform to NGC Award Rules. See National Gardener July/August
and September/October issues of each year.
- Where to Send Award Applications: Books of Evidence and Yearbooks must
be sent to the respective LGCF Chairmen designated in the Awards Rules.
The names and addresses of LGCF Officers and Chairmen appear only in the
Directory Issue of the Newsletter. Each Club President and Awards Chairman
should carefully study these General Rules and the Rules shown for each
of the listed Awards.
- Forms: The only application forms for LGCF Awards are the Garden Club Achievement
Application Form (#1) and the Horticulture Honor Roll Application Form
(#5B).
- How to Apply for An Award: All applications, except the Yearbook, are to
be presented in a theme-type folder (Oxford or Mead, for example), typewritten
or computer generated, and must include all information and evidence pertinent
to the particular award, such as dated news clippings or pictures, with
date and name of newspaper cut from newspaper, photographs, letters, etc.
Data is to be brief, well-secured (not paper clipped). Clear plastic covers,
held together by slip-on type binders are not acceptable. Applications
are to be no more than 6 pages back and front-total of 12 pages, with the
exception of the Publicity Press Book, for which there is no limit on the
number of pages. Clear plastic pages covers (slip-in type) may be used.
Please be neat and concise. A distinctive presentation is always a plus!
- Cover Label: Type Award number, Name of Award, Club Name, Membership Number,
District and Year.
- State Chairmen who are Judging Awards: You shall compile a list of Award
Applications received AND a list of LGCF Award Winners. There will be one
first place, one second place, one third place and one honorable mention
winner in each category. These lists shall be sent to the LGCF Awards Chairman,
postmarked no later than January 15th. Exception to this date is Award
# 22 Publicity Press Book. A list of winners of Award #22 shall be sent
to the LGCF Awards Chairman as soon after judging as is possible. Those
awards deemed eligible by the respective Chairmen and conforming to specific
NGC Award requirements shall be sent to the LGCF-NGC Awards Chairman, postmarked
no later than January 1st.
- Deep South Awards: Many Deep South Awards may be available to your club.
Rules and listings follow this section of the Newsletter. Please note:
If your club wishes to submit an application for a LGCF Award which may
also be eligible for a NGC Award and a Deep South Award, two separate (duplicate
or similar) applications must be made. Each application must conform to
the specific award requirements. Deep South Award applications are not
forwarded to NGC, with the exception of the Publicity Press Book Award.

BOOK OF EVIDENCE - CHANGE IN NUMBER OF PAGES REQUIRED
Effective immediately, the guidlines for preparing a book of evidence for all Deep South and LGCF awards must conform to 2003 NGC regulations.
