Alexandria Garden Club, Inc. of central Louisiana was asked to help with sprucing
up The Kent Plantation House for the opening ceremonies of the International Bicentennial
Year of the Louisiana Purchase. | | |
| Club members furnished
period (circa late 1700s - early 1800s) floral designs for rooms in the "big
house" as well as the open-hearth kitchen/cook house and gift shop. |
| The over 200 year-old
plantation home (1796) was picked to host the December 20, 2002, kickoff reception
the yearlong 2003 Bicentennial Celebration of the Louisiana Purchase. The home
is located on Bayou Rapides in Alexandria, Louisiana. |
